5 Ways to Achieve Your Goals in 2022

1. Describe your ideal self.

Who do you want to be?

By visualizing our ideal selves and beginning to behave as that person, we make progress towards our goals.

Do you meditate instead of watching TV because it’s more fun, or because you know you’ll be more calm and centered?

Do you choose broccoli over potato chips because you enjoy the taste, or because you know it’s better for you?

In these cases, you’ve decided that you want to be a healthy, mindful person, and therefore take actions to support that goal.

Obviously our version of an ideal self will shift over time, but you’ll be doing yourself a favor by setting a course and forging ahead.

2. Write your goals down.

Get your goals out of your head and onto paper. Writing can feel very powerful — you are removing something from only existing in your head to having a physical presence.

3. Review your goals every single day.

Having a list of goals doesn’t matter if it’s in a notebook on a dusty shelf.

Reading over your goals on a daily basis may feel insignificant, but even the slightest shift in your everyday actions can make a world of difference.

4. Plan your week around your goals.

Every Sunday, I write down everything (accompanied by my list of goals) I can do within the next week to accomplish my goals.

There will be weeks in which you don’t accomplish everything — if you’re an overachiever like me, this may happen more often than not.

Unexpected things will come up from time to time, so it’s important to stay flexible enough to refocus, as well as forgive yourself for not being perfect.

5. Create routines.

Daily habits can feel ginormous when you tackle them one at a time. A way to knock daily tasks out quickly is to create a routine surrounding them.

For example, after eating dinner you may start the dishwasher, set up the coffee-maker, and sweep the kitchen floor. Eventually you’ll be able to complete these tasks much faster than you would if you did each task separately.

I hope that these tips can help you accomplish everything you set out for in 2022! Thanks for reading.
